The Front Royal Cardinals got out to an early 4-0 lead Friday evening when they hosted Strasburg, but the Express would score eight runs in the fourth inning to come back and win 12-4.

Zeus Ponder got the start for the Cardinals and pitched a solid three innings, but Strasburg was able to get to him in the fourth inning. He still recorded six strikeouts while giving up six hits. He was relieved by Sam Hough in the fourth and Chase Stanhope, Sean Means and Shaun Muñoz would all come in during the later innings. Dallas Hite recorded three of the five hits for the Cardinals on Friday night while also recording two RBI. Carlton Harper and Drew Bristow also recorded one hit each and Bristow added an RBI on the night.

Strasburg holds the best record in the Valley League as they improved to 12-6 just shy of the midway point of the 2022 season. Front Royal drops to 6-11 on the season. The Cardinals travel to Winchester to face the Royals on Saturday June 25 and head to Waynesboro for a Sunday double header before returning home on Monday night to host Purcellville at Bing Crosby Stadium!
